When You Wonder

This book is a delight to read–whether or not one was a fan of Mister Rogers’ neighborhood at some time during its 33 year run. The authors take readers behind the scenes of The Neighborhood to reveal the thoughtfulness that went into planning each episode. They connect what Fred Rogers was doing to the most current thinking scientific thinking about learning and how the brain functions.  This could seem like a rather technical and boring exposition, but it is not. It offers important insights for every teacher, school administrator, and parent. In a world so fraught with conflict, hostility, and anxiety, When You Wonder reminds us of Fred Rogers enduring lessons of kindness, respect for every individual, and reverence for life.
